The Start

If you are in Gaza today, your meal is probably from a can. Meat is gone. Eggs are gone. Fresh vegetables are gone. Even cheese and yogurt are hard to find.

Before this war, 500 aid trucks entered Gaza every day. Now, only a few dozen get in. Because of that, more than 1.5 million people in Gaza are facing severe hunger. A person in Gaza today gets only 1,400 calories per day. A healthy person needs over 2,000. That is not enough to live on.

They Took Our Land and Our Sea

Even if we wanted to grow our own food, we cannot. Before the war, we grew tomatoes, cucumbers, and other vegetables on our farms. Now, because of bombs and destruction, only 3% of Gaza's farmland can still grow anything. The rest is ruined. We cannot plant. We cannot harvest.

And what about the sea? Gaza is on the coast. We used to eat fresh fish. But Israel blocks our fishermen from going out to sea. If they try, they are shot at or arrested. So even the fish in our own waters are off-limits to us.

What They Block, What They Allow

Israel is blocking over 350 types of food from entering Gaza. They say no to:

· Red meat and chicken

· Fish

· Dairy and cheese

· Fresh fruits and vegetables

· Baby formula and supplements for sick people

But here is the strange part. While they block real food, they allow soda and junk food. Soft drinks, chocolate, and chips enter Gaza. These items sell for 15 times their normal price because Israel controls the supply.

So, a family cannot find eggs for their children, but they can buy soda if they have the money.

The Cans Are Not Safe

Because there is no fresh food, people eat canned food. But even that is becoming dangerous. Many of these cans are old, expired, or were not kept cold. In August 2025, nine people, including four children who were taken to the hospital after eating expired canned food. They had food poisoning.

People know the cans might make them sick. But what can they do? It is either eat a bad can or stay hungry.

Why Soda? It Is Not Just a Drink

The soda that Israel lets into Gaza is not just a drink. The biggest brands; Coca-Cola and Pepsi have deep ties to the occupation.

Coca-Cola’s Israeli factory is in Atarot, an illegal settlement in occupied East Jerusalem. Activists say Coca-Cola gives money to Israeli groups that support the army. Pepsi owns SodaStream, which used to have a factory in an illegal West Bank settlement. Pepsi also co-owns Sabra hummus.

Because of these ties, Palestinians and many others around the world have been boycotting these brands for years. We know that buying these drinks helps fund the war against us. Yet Israel makes sure these brands reach our markets, while blocking our basic food.

The Big Picture

This is not an accident. This is a clear plan:

  1. Destroy our land so we cannot grow food.
  2. Block our sea so we cannot fish.
  3. Starve us by blocking real food from entering.
  4. Poison us with expired cans.
  5. Let in soda from companies that support the occupation.
  6. Make money off us while we suffer.

They want us weak. They want us to give up. But we see what is happening.
