Blue Origin’s heavy-lift New Glenn rocket exploded during testing in the United States. The company said an “anomaly” occurred during the test and that no one was injured.

The incident took place at the Cape Canaveral launch complex in Florida on the evening of May 28 during a hot-fire test, a key stage of launch preparation in which the rocket engines are fired while the vehicle remains secured to the launch pad. In Moscow time, the accident occurred during the night of May 29.

Scheduled testing at the launch complex began at about 9 p.m. local time. A powerful explosion later occurred at the site, sending a fireball and a dense cloud of smoke into the sky. Local media and witnesses said the shock wave was felt in nearby communities, including Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach.
