In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Russian TV presenter Maxim Gurevich was sentenced for embezzling 3.4 million rubles allocated from the budget for organizing an award ceremony for gifted children. The regional prosecutor's office reported this to Lenta.ru on Wednesday, April 24.
As the court found, from August 2021 to February 2022, together with an accomplice, he committed the theft of a budget subsidy for organizing and holding a ceremony for gifted children in the field of culture and art. Maxim Gurevich was found guilty of fraud. The court sentenced him to three and a half years of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of three years. In his last word, the presenter did not admit guilt and asked the court not to deprive him of his freedom.
According to the investigation, at the end of 2021, the regional Ministry of Sports allocated 5 million rubles to hold a ceremony to award gifted children for their achievements in the field of education, sports, culture and art. The money was received by the non-profit organization Open Hearts.
Preparations for the event were carried out by the director of the company “Modern Production” Gurevich and his assistants. The defendants drew up fictitious contracts and inflated the cost of work, some of which were not even completed. The TV presenterwas arrestedin January 2023.
