Three men have been detained in the Moscow region on suspicion of selling counterfeit instant coffee disguised as products of a well-known brand.

According to investigators, the suspects purchased packaging bearing unlawfully applied trademarks belonging to Russian rights holders, posted listings for the products on a popular online marketplace, and sold the counterfeit goods through a pickup point on Yaroslavskoye Highway in Moscow.

During searches of homes and garages, law enforcement officers found and seized documents, cash, packaging equipment, packing materials, as well as more than a thousand units of counterfeit products. The seized goods were sent for expert examination.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 180 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - unlawful use of another party’s trademark. The suspects have been placed under house arrest as a preventive measure.
