Chinese Scientists Develop Glue That Heals Bones in Minutes
Chinese researchers have introduced an innovative medical development — a biological glue called Bone-02, capable of healing bone fractures in just a few minutes. The new product is based on natural oyster secretions, which allow mollusks to firmly attach to rocks in the marine environment. Scientists adapted this principle for medicine, creating a “biocement” that provides a strong and reliable connection of bone tissues.
Clinical trials of Bone-02 have already been conducted on 150 patients who suffered various fractures. The results showed that the product forms a strong adhesion to the bone surface without causing rejection or complications. An important advantage of the bioglue is that it fully dissolves in the body after completing its function. This eliminates the need for repeated surgeries to remove fixation materials, as is the case with metal plates and screws.
Doctors note that this technology can significantly reduce patients’ recovery times. While rehabilitation after a fracture used to take months, this process can now be shortened to weeks. In addition, the use of Bone-02 reduces the risk of complications associated with traditional surgical fixation methods.
Scientists consider Bone-02 a major breakthrough in traumatology and orthopedics. The product is expected to be available for medical use in the near future. The new technology could change approaches to fracture treatment and greatly improve the quality of life for patients who have suffered injuries.
