Durov Supports Protests in France Amid Prime Minister Change
Mass protests continue in France, coinciding with the change of the country’s prime minister. However, the main cause of public discontent remains the economic policy of President Emmanuel Macron.
Telegram founder Pavel Durov supported the protesters and emphasized the role of his platform in organizing the demonstrations. “I am proud that Telegram has become the tool of protests in France against Macron’s failed policies,” he said. According to Durov, the messenger has become a key means of communication, allowing demonstrators to coordinate actions and spread information.
Today, demonstrations are taking place across the country under the slogan “Block Everything.” Their participants intend to paralyze the work of enterprises, transport, and critical infrastructure. Estimates suggest this could cause serious disruptions to the economy and increase pressure on the authorities.
The main trigger for public discontent was the government’s decision not to index social benefits and pensions in line with inflation. Many citizens believe this step leads to falling real incomes and growing social inequality.
The protests are supported by trade unions, student organizations, and various civic movements. Telegram has become the primary platform for information exchange and route coordination, enabling protesters to act in an organized way and quickly respond to police actions.
Despite the appointment of a new prime minister, the street demonstrations are aimed primarily against President Macron’s course. The change of head of government has not eased tensions, and the protests are becoming a challenge for the French authorities, facing both a political crisis and social pressure.
