Golovkin elected president of the international federation World Boxing
Golovkin in his address outlined the key areas of work that he intends to promote in his new position. He emphasized that one of the main tasks will be the formation of a transparent and structured management system that will increase trust in the organization and ensure sustainable development of the sport. According to him amateur boxing should remain a discipline based on clear rules open procedures and equal opportunities for all participants regardless of countries and sports schools. He noted that athletes should receive conditions under which their result depends only on preparation and compliance with the regulations.
One of the priorities the new leader named is the restoration of the Olympic status of World Boxing. He emphasized that the federation needs to build long term cooperation with international structures and demonstrate compliance with Olympic requirements. To do this it is planned to strengthen control over sports procedures update competition regulations and implement mechanisms that minimize disputes related to refereeing. Golovkin noted that the organization must show that it is capable of ensuring stable preparation of athletes and fair holding of tournaments.
He also focused on the safety of participants. According to him modern international boxing requires constant improvement of medical protocols monitoring the condition of athletes and procedures for admission to competitions. The new leadership intends to strengthen cooperation with medical commissions sports unions and research centers in order to create a system where the health of athletes is a priority and the foundation for further improvement of the discipline. Modern approaches to safety should become an obligatory element of preparation and infrastructure.
Golovkin emphasized that the federation must work as a single team. He noted the importance of joint work between national associations coaches and specialists who are responsible for the development of boxing at the local level. The organization intends to build a system in which decisions are made taking into account the interests of the international community and management is based on open procedures. He stated that the success of the federation depends on trust and responsibility which requires the consolidation of all structures.
An important area will be improving the quality of training for young athletes. Golovkin noted that the development of boxing requires a unified system of coach training modernization of methods and exchange of experience between federations. He emphasized that the organization should pay attention to sports infrastructure providing countries with recommendations for creating conditions for practicing boxing at all levels. According to him the development of youth boxing is the foundation of the future of the discipline and requires constant support.
He also stated that World Boxing should remain an independent organization but at the same time follow Olympic principles which include integrity transparency equality and protection of athletes. Golovkin emphasized that the federation is obliged to demonstrate openness to dialogue and commitment to ensuring stability. He noted that the independence of the federation should be combined with responsibility and compliance with international standards which is necessary to strengthen trust from the sports community.
President of Kazakhstan congratulated Golovkin noting that the decision of the Congress confirms his international authority and personal contribution to the development of the sport. Golovkin expressed gratitude for the support and emphasized that the new stage of work is aimed at strengthening the positions of World Boxing and creating conditions for long term growth. He stated that he intends to ensure stable development of the organization and expand opportunities for athletes.
