Kazakhstan and Russia signed a declaration on strategic partnership
Following the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Russian Federation, a Declaration was signed on the transition of bilateral relations to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance. The document marks a new stage of cooperation between the two states, aimed at expanding collaboration in all key areas — from the economy and science to education and ecology.
During the signing ceremony, the President of Kazakhstan noted that the document reflects the historical closeness of the two peoples, their shared interests, and aspirations for the long-term development of the region. Vladimir Putin emphasized that Kazakhstan and Russia demonstrate an example of allied relations based on equality and mutual respect.
The Declaration covers issues of political interaction, trade and economic cooperation, humanitarian exchanges, energy, and transport integration. The leaders confirmed their commitment to strengthening stability in Central Asia and working together within international organizations, including the EAEU, CSTO, and CIS.
As part of the visit, several practical agreements were also signed, which will become part of the implementation of the new partnership. Among them is an agreement on the establishment of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Aktau, designed to strengthen Russia’s consular and humanitarian presence in western Kazakhstan.
Special attention was given to the development of joint educational initiatives. Documents were signed on the creation of Kazakh-Russian schools in Kazakhstan and Russian schools in Russia, which will strengthen cultural and linguistic ties between the peoples.
In addition, the parties agreed to establish an interstate commission on flight tests of Soyuz-5 launch vehicles and the operation of the Baiterek complex, opening new opportunities for cooperation in the space industry.
The environmental aspect of cooperation was also advanced through an agreement to reintroduce Amur tigers from Russia to Kazakhstan. The project aims to restore the ecosystem and revive the population of rare animals in Kazakhstan.
The signing of the declaration marked the culmination of a series of negotiations and symbolized the transition of relations between the two countries to a new level — comprehensive alliance based on trust, mutual understanding, and a shared vision for future development.
