Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to Establish an International Industrial Cooperation Center
The Parliament of Kazakhstan has ratified an agreement to establish an International Industrial Cooperation Center between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
What Are the Center’s Objectives?
The center will serve as a platform for:
- Developing industrial cooperation between the two countries.
- Enhancing economic and investment collaboration.
- Integrating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into global value chains.
- Boosting the competitiveness of regional businesses.
Where Will the Center Be Located?
The center will be built on the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border, near the checkpoints:
- "Atameken" (Kazakhstan).
- "Gulistan" (Uzbekistan).
This will help simplify border and customs control for cooperation participants.
How Will It Be Organized?
The center will be divided into two sections – Kazakhstani and Uzbekistani, each covering 500 square meters.
- The Kazakhstani section will be managed by the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan.
- The Uzbekistani section will be overseen by the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan.
What Are the Expected Benefits?
The center is expected to:
- Attract new investments.
- Develop cross-border trade.
- Simplify logistics processes.
- Provide additional support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
This project represents a major step towards economic integration and the creation of a unified industrial space between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
