Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro declared the deep and unbreakable bond between Venezuela and Colombia, emphasizing that the destinies of the two nations are closely linked through history, culture, and shared interests. According to him, both countries form a single whole despite their political and economic differences.

“Colombia knows that we are one — like Siamese twins, with everything that implies. Colombia stands beside Venezuela, and everything that affects Venezuela also affects Colombia,” Maduro said during his speech in Caracas.

He revealed that he had recently received a letter from an officer of the Colombian Armed Forces who expressed solidarity with Venezuela and emphasized that the peoples of both nations share common values and history.

“If you touch Venezuela, you touch Colombia. We are one homeland at heart. I don’t say this lightly — I know exactly what I’m saying,” Maduro quoted the officer as saying.

The Venezuelan leader noted that such sentiments reflect the genuine desire of both nations to strengthen fraternal ties and preserve peace across the continent. He stressed that the two countries must build their future on the principles of mutual respect, economic cooperation, and collective security.

Political observers view Maduro’s statement as a sign of growing rapprochement between Caracas and Bogotá, whose relations have undergone significant changes in recent years. Following the restoration of diplomatic ties in 2022, the two countries have intensified cooperation in energy, trade, and border management.
