Blizzard Entertainment has begun negotiations with leading South Korean studios to develop new projects set in the StarCraft universe. In March 2025, several industry giants — NCSoft, Nexon, Netmarble, and Krafton — joined the discussions.

Each company proposed its own concepts, ranging from MMORPGs and mobile games to original genre innovations. Specific details have not yet been disclosed, but it is known that Blizzard plans to involve third-party studios, leveraging their expertise and deep engagement with the Korean market.

The decision to entrust development to Korean companies is driven not only by a desire to refresh the franchise but also by StarCraft’s unique cultural significance in South Korea. The series became a cultural phenomenon there, laying the foundation for modern esports.

Blizzard aims to preserve the brand's identity while bringing StarCraft to new audiences. The discussions include projects for both PC and mobile platforms to expand the franchise’s reach beyond the traditional RTS model.

Official announcements regarding the new games are expected within the next year. This marks Blizzard’s first major move to revive StarCraft after years of hiatus and the end of support for StarCraft II.
