Trump to Decide on Iran Strike Within Two Weeks
U.S. President Donald Trump is weighing the option of launching a strike on Iran. According to statements from the White House, a decision is expected within the next two weeks. At the same time, the administration noted that there remains a “significant possibility” of resuming nuclear negotiations with Tehran.
U.S. officials confirmed that several scenarios are under consideration in Washington, including both diplomatic and military pressure on Iranian authorities. The American side insists on the need for Iran to revise its approach to nuclear activities and comply with international obligations.
In response, Moscow has issued a warning. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that if the U.S. proceeds with a strike on Iran, Russia will regard it as a step toward serious escalation. He emphasized that Russia does not want to see the situation unfold along this path and called for the preservation of diplomatic efforts.
The Kremlin stresses that any military intervention in the region could destabilize the situation and have negative consequences for security not only in the Middle East but globally. Peskov added that Russia continues to monitor developments and advocates for resolving differences through political and diplomatic means.
The United States has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with Tehran’s nuclear activities. Since withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Washington has increased pressure on Iran through sanctions and a military presence in the region. Nevertheless, the White House does not rule out returning to negotiations under certain conditions.
The situation is causing concern among international actors. Representatives of the UN, EU, and several regional countries are calling for restraint and the pursuit of political solutions. The possibility of a large-scale conflict remains a pressing concern, especially given the recent escalation in U.S.-Iran relations.
A final decision by the American administration is expected soon. Russia, as Peskov reiterated, hopes the U.S. will refrain from military action and sees continued diplomatic engagement as essential. Amid rising tensions, the issue of Iran’s nuclear program is once again at the forefront of global discussions.
