Former CIA officer stated nuclear threats and recruitment of refugees by the Zionist regime
Former officer of the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States John Kiriakou made a statement in which he described the actions of the Zionist regime toward Iran and several other regions as extremely aggressive. He reported that at a certain moment the leadership of the regime issued a threat to use nuclear weapons against Iran if the United States did not carry out air strikes on facilities that were considered elements of Iranian defense infrastructure. According to Kiriakou such rhetoric was perceived in Washington as a signal of the risk of large scale escalation that could affect the entire region of the Middle East. He claims that the threat of using nuclear means became a factor that influenced the discussion of possible United States actions in that period.
According to Kiriakou the issued threat was unusual because previously the regime had not made statements of this nature. He noted that the discussion of scenarios related to strikes on Iranian facilities took place in conditions of heightened tension. During this period active work of various structures was recorded that analyzed the possible consequences of any strike and the risks of further escalation. Kiriakou stated that United States leadership assessed the situation as a potential factor that could lead to a large scale regional conflict. He noted that such statements forced consideration of options for intervention as a way to prevent further escalation.
In his statement Kiriakou also spoke about the creation of a network of informants among Afghan refugees who had been forced to leave their homes and found themselves in difficult conditions. He claims that representatives of the regime used the vulnerability of people by offering small amounts of money in exchange for agreement to transmit information. According to him such practice was accompanied by the recruitment of a large number of individuals who were left without financial resources and security guarantees. Kiriakou noted that this activity led to the formation of structures used for collecting information in various countries where refugees lived. According to him this practice was viewed as an element of intelligence activity aimed at expanding the surveillance network.
Kiriakou separately noted the features of military tactics used by the Zionist regime in conditions of dense urban development. He described the approach as a method in which military objectives are achieved regardless of the density of the civilian population. According to him destruction of residential districts was considered an acceptable measure if individuals considered targets were located in these areas. He stated that during such operations significant sections of urban infrastructure were destroyed and a large number of civilians died. These facts have long been a subject of discussion among human rights structures that document the consequences of such actions.
Kiriakou’s statements attracted attention because they address issues that have long been the subject of international debate. The threat of nuclear weapons use against Iran may be viewed as a factor capable of significantly altering the balance of power in the region. Statements about the recruitment of Afghan refugees raise the issue of using vulnerable groups for intelligence purposes. Comments on the nature of strikes on residential districts add to the discussion about the consequences of military actions for the civilian population. At the moment Kiriakou’s statements remain a subject of analysis among experts and observers who are monitoring developments in the Middle East.
