iPhone will use personal data to train Apple Intelligence — Bloomberg
Apple is launching its own AI system — Apple Intelligence — which will be trained on real user data from iPhones, iPads, and Macs. According to Bloomberg, the system will use the contents of emails, notifications, notes, and other personal information to improve features such as auto-summarization of messages and smart reply suggestions.
Importantly, the company states that the data will not be sent to Apple servers — all analysis takes place locally on the device. However, the data used is real user information, not anonymized or synthetic data, sparking discussions about privacy boundaries.
For users who wish to opt out, Apple offers a manual option to disable data collection and analysis:
How to opt out:
-
Go to Settings
-
Open Privacy & Security
-
Scroll down and select Analytics & Improvements
-
Disable all available options
These steps will stop the device from sending analytics and participating in AI model training.
