Israel considers relocating Gaza residents to third countries
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during a meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump, stated that the possibility of relocating part of the Palestinian population from the Gaza Strip is being discussed as part of a long-term conflict resolution plan.
According to Netanyahu, options are being considered for relocating up to two million people to third countries, with Ukraine and Syria named as possible destinations. The Israeli leader noted that these territories "fit into long-term settlement plans" and are viewed as "promising for new beginnings."
This information has sparked mixed reactions among international observers and human rights organizations, which have previously criticized such resettlement proposals as potential violations of international humanitarian law.
At the time of publication, no official confirmation had been received from either Ukraine or Syria. UN representatives have repeatedly stressed that any form of forced displacement of civilians during conflict violates international norms and may constitute a breach of the Geneva Conventions.
The issue of relocating Palestinians from Gaza remains highly sensitive amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis, widespread destruction, and lack of access to essential services in the region.
