Kazakhstan and Italy Open a New Chapter of Partnership

Official negotiations between President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella, who arrived on his first state visit to Kazakhstan, took place in Astana. The meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual respect and highlighted the special nature of bilateral relations, based on years of partnership and close cooperation.

In his remarks, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the significance of Sergio Mattarella’s visit, noting that it would give new impetus to the development of Kazakh-Italian relations. The President of Kazakhstan stated that the two countries are bound by long-standing ties of friendship and expressed his personal commitment to strengthening cooperation in key areas. According to him, Kazakhstan and Italy are demonstrating steady progress in cooperation, achieving notable results in the fields of economy, trade, and humanitarian interaction.

In particular, the President of Kazakhstan stressed that bilateral economic relations are solid and promising. Trade between the two countries is developing dynamically, while partnerships in energy, industry, and transport open new opportunities for joint projects. Tokayev also gave special attention to cultural and humanitarian ties, which contribute to building trust and mutual understanding between the peoples.

For his part, Sergio Mattarella thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the warm welcome and expressed satisfaction with the level of Kazakh-Italian cooperation. He noted that the visit continued the dialogue initiated during Tokayev’s official visit to Rome in January last year. The President of Italy emphasized that relations between the two countries are becoming increasingly intensive and fruitful, covering both economic and cultural-educational spheres. According to him, special importance lies in the expansion of cooperation between universities and research centers, paving the way for new forms of partnership.

The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international issues. During the talks, they addressed the need for coordinated efforts to ensure stability, strengthen mutual security, and seek joint solutions to global challenges. The presidents confirmed their shared commitment to further developing political dialogue and strengthening mutual trust.

Concluding the talks, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev conveyed his greetings and best wishes to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. In turn, Sergio Mattarella expressed confidence that the visit would become a new milestone in the history of bilateral relations, laying the foundation for even closer and more dynamic cooperation in the future.
