US President Donald Trump once again commented on Elon Musk, emphasizing that he does not need him as an ally or partner but feels a personal liking. “I don’t need Musk. I just like him,” Trump said, speaking about his relationship with the well-known entrepreneur and owner of Tesla, X, and SpaceX.

According to the president, he believes Musk has done “an outstanding job” and has made a significant contribution to technological advancement. At the same time, he stressed that their relationship is neither business nor political.

An amusing anecdote came up as Trump mentioned that he had bought a Tesla. However, he clarified that he doesn’t drive the electric car himself. “I don’t need his car. You know what I do with it? I let people in the office drive it,” he joked. Thus, even owning a product associated with Musk's brand, Trump distances himself from any dependency or favoritism.

The statement came amid Musk’s increasing presence in American politics. The entrepreneur actively participates in public debates, commenting on issues like AI regulation, immigration, and freedom of speech. Despite this, Trump made it clear that his appreciation for Musk is not tied to political support or a strategic alliance.

This approach is typical of Trump’s rhetoric — stressing independence even when acknowledging others’ accomplishments. In the current political climate, where tech companies are increasingly under regulatory pressure, such statements may serve both as signals to elites and as elements of Trump’s public image.
