Zionist Regime Increases Military Activity in the West Bank
Tensions in the West Bank continue to escalate. Despite international condemnation, the Zionist regime is intensifying its annexation of occupied territories and increasing its military presence. In the Zatara checkpoint area, south of Nablus, locals recorded convoys of trucks carrying tanks and armored vehicles. While the military described them as “exercises,” Palestinians view the buildup as preparation for a new wave of violence.
At the same time, pressure on the civilian population has intensified. On Monday night, armed settler-occupiers attacked the village of Mikhmas, set two cars on fire, and fled the scene. Witnesses report that such attacks occur regularly, often involving arson, destruction of property, and intimidation of civilians. Residents say soldiers are present but do not intervene in settlers’ actions.
Since the beginning of the month, the number of raids and arrests has increased. Palestinian communities remain isolated, with movement between towns restricted by numerous checkpoints. Occupation forces conduct searches and detain young men under the pretext of “security checks.” In some areas, food and medicine deliveries have been disrupted due to military blockades.
International human rights organizations record systematic violations of international law. They report that infrastructure destruction, land confiscation, and pressure on civilians are aimed at displacing Palestinians and consolidating control over strategic areas. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch noted that these actions amount to forced displacement and collective punishment.
The Palestinian Authority has appealed to the UN Security Council and the International Criminal Court to investigate crimes against civilians. Palestinian officials warn that without international pressure, the situation will continue to deteriorate. Representatives from Qatar, Turkey, and Jordan also condemned the growing violence and called for an immediate halt to attacks.
Despite these appeals, the leadership of the Zionist regime maintains its policy of expanding settlements and militarizing the region. New military facilities are being built near Palestinian villages, increasing the risk of clashes. International media report that Israel seeks to maintain territorial control under the pretext of “security.”
The situation in the West Bank remains extremely tense. Human rights groups warn that further escalation could trigger another wave of violence and mass displacement. Without decisive action from the international community, the threat to Palestinians will grow, and the policy of annexation will deepen.
