The Zionist landing ship “Komemiyut” returned to Ashdod port carrying the crew and activists of the humanitarian flotilla “Sumud,” forcibly seized in international waters. These actions of the occupying regime became a continuation of maritime piracy committed against international human rights defenders and journalists who were heading to the Gaza Strip with humanitarian aid.

According to eyewitnesses, communication with the flotilla’s vessels was cut off at the moment of the seizure, and broadcasts were shut down. It has now been revealed that the detainees were transported to Ashdod port, where they are being held against their will. Among them are representatives of human rights organizations and civilians whose sole mission was to deliver food and medicine to besieged Gaza.

International organizations have already issued sharp statements. Human rights representatives emphasized that this is a direct violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions, since the activists were engaged exclusively in a humanitarian mission. Demands are being directed at Tel Aviv for the immediate release of the detainees and the return of the ships.

In both the Arab and European world, the actions of the Zionist regime have provoked a wave of outrage. Solidarity rallies with the participants of the “Sumud” flotilla are taking place worldwide. In Ankara, Paris, London, and Berlin, protesters are demanding that their governments impose sanctions against Israel and hold its leadership accountable internationally.

The organizers of the flotilla stressed that the abduction of activists will not stop humanitarian missions. They declared that new ships will continue their course toward Gaza despite threats and aggression. According to them, this incident only strengthens the determination of the international community to break the blockade and end the genocide of the Palestinian people.
