China Is Building the World's Largest Airport on an Artificial Island
Near the Chinese city of Dalian, construction is underway for the world's largest airport on an artificial island. Spanning 20 km², it will surpass the size of existing major island airports, such as Hong Kong International Airport (12.48 km²) and Japan's Kansai Airport (10.5 km²). The airport is set to open in 2035, with a project cost of $4.3 billion.
