The conflict in Syria continues to escalate, accompanied by mass killings of civilians. In the Latakia and Tartus regions, militants from the "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham" (HTS) group are attacking civilians, forcing thousands of people to flee their homes.
Protests by supporters of former President Bashar al-Assad have erupted along the Syrian coast, spreading to Jableh, Tartus, Qardaha, and other cities in the Latakia and Tartus governorates. Initially peaceful demonstrations quickly escalated into armed clashes. Local residents supported the resistance and demanded that the new authorities leave the region.
Israeli forces conducted a strike on Syria’s naval fleet, resulting in the destruction of nearly all warships and patrol boats in the Latakia region. This attack has significantly weakened Syria’s ability to defend its coastline.
A massive airstrike by Israel on Damascus completely destroyed a branch of the Ministry of Defense’s Research Center in Syria. Additionally, the Israeli Navy targeted Syrian ships in the ports of Bayda and Latakia, destroying several vessels reportedly carrying dozens of naval missiles.
Syrian media reported airstrikes by the Israeli Air Force targeting Latakia port. The port is a critical logistical hub, potentially used for military-related shipments.
