A meeting of the China-Kazakhstan Joint Committee on International Road Transport was held in Beijing.

Kazakhstan was represented by a delegation headed by the chair of the Road Transport and Transport Control Committee of the Ministry of Transport. Representatives of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance and the national company QazAvtoJol also took part.

The participants considered key issues in the development of international road transport between Kazakhstan and China. They focused on improving the permit system, developing cross-border transport infrastructure and expanding the passenger route network.

Following the talks, the parties agreed to move to an unlimited exchange of foreign permit forms by the end of the year and abandon quantitative quotas.

Particular attention was paid to increasing the capacity of the Nur Zholy checkpoint on the Kazakhstan-China border.

The parties also discussed the digitalization of transport services. They plan to introduce payment for toll roads through WeChat Pay by the end of the first half of the year.

The participants confirmed their interest in further strengthening bilateral cooperation and their readiness to continue constructive work in international road transport.
