Putin and Xi Jinping Discuss Biotechnology and Life Extension
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged views on the prospects of biotechnology and extending human life. The discussion touched on organ transplantation and the opportunities that may arise thanks to scientific progress.
Xi Jinping noted the shift in perceptions of age and life expectancy. Vladimir Putin, in turn, drew attention to the achievements of biotechnology related to organ transplantation. He expressed the view that in the future such operations may be performed repeatedly, allowing health to be maintained and the body rejuvenated. According to the Russian president, this opens the prospect for a significant increase in life expectancy and even raises the question of achieving immortality as a scientific category.
Xi Jinping added that expert forecasts point to the possibility of reaching the age of 150 within this century. He stressed that such assessments are based on current scientific data and trends in medical development.
The conversation between the two leaders touched on important issues of humanity’s future, including the use of new technologies in healthcare and their impact on society. Both sides expressed interest in continuing to exchange views on progress in biotechnology and life extension.
