Durov Accuses EU Structures of Pressuring Telegram
Pavel Durov stated that a narrative is being formed around Telegram aimed at justifying surveillance and censorship. According to him, the initiative originates from organizations linked to EU institutions.
Telegram founder Pavel Durov criticized structures and media outlets that, according to him, are shaping a negative information campaign around the messenger. He said that Telegram is being portrayed as a problem due to the possibility of discussing content from other social networks in closed groups.
According to Durov, the initiative was launched by the organization AI Forensics, which he described as a contractor of the European Commission and a structure financed by Soros. In his version, the organization’s conclusions were picked up by several European publications and then disseminated by international agencies and national press outlets.
Durov believes that such a narrative is being used as justification for strengthening mechanisms of surveillance and censorship in the digital space. He emphasized the need to respond publicly to such initiatives, as in his view they affect freedom of communication on the internet.
Direct quote from Pavel Durov:
“The deep state of the EU” claims (through state media and NGOs funded by Soros) that Telegram is a problem because people can discuss content from other social networks in closed Telegram groups. This absurdity is used as justification for surveillance and censorship.
This narrative was launched by AI Forensics (a contractor of the European Commission, funded by Soros), picked up by globalist publications — El País, Der Spiegel, Wired — and then amplified by the news agency France-Presse and almost verbatim reprinted by the “free” French press: Le Parisien, France 24, Ouest-France, Le Figaro.
“I doubt that anyone still takes these organizations seriously — most of them lost public trust back during the COVID pandemic. But it is important to point out all such attempts to manipulate public opinion, because this is how what remains of our freedoms is gradually taken away.”
