US imposes new sanctions on Iran over nuclear program
The US State Department has announced new sanctions against Iran. The restrictive measures have been imposed in connection with the country’s nuclear development activities. According to the official statement, the sanctions target the Iranian company Fuya Pars and three of its senior employees.
As noted in the publication on the State Department’s website, Fuya Pars is linked to a Tehran-based entity engaged in defense innovations and research. US authorities accuse this company of assisting in the development of programs that, in their view, could be used to create nuclear weapons or other prohibited types of arms.
The sanctions include the freezing of any assets of the designated individuals and organizations under US jurisdiction. In addition, American citizens and companies are prohibited from entering into any financial or commercial relationships with these entities and individuals. These measures are aimed at limiting Iran’s access to international financial and technological resources.
The State Department statement emphasized that the US intends to continue countering the spread of nuclear technologies and prevent any attempts by Iran to develop prohibited weapons. Washington also called on international partners to support the sanctions regime and strengthen enforcement controls.
The Iranian side has not officially responded to the announced sanctions at the time of publication. In recent years, the US has repeatedly imposed restrictive measures on various Iranian companies and individuals, accusing them of supporting programs related to ballistic missiles and nuclear technologies.
International analysts note that the new sanctions add tension to US-Iran relations. However, they also stress that US actions are aimed at increasing pressure to bring Iran back into compliance with international agreements.
The State Department also stated that the US remains open to diplomatic efforts to resolve the differences but is prepared to continue imposing additional restrictions if necessary.
