An increase in water levels is expected in Kigach and Sharonovka in the Atyrau region, reports the press service of the operational headquarters for emergency situations in the region.

“A further increase in water levels is expected on the Kigach and Sharonovka channels,” the message said on Friday.

According to the hydrological monitoring data of the RSE "Kazhydromet" in the Atyrau region as of 8 o'clock on April 26, 2024 over the past day:

⁃ At the gauging station of the Kigach River - the village of Shortanbay, the water level is at 317 cm, the rise per day is +7 cm, the total rise since the beginning of the flood is 188 cm;

⁃ At the gauging station of the Kigach River - the village of Kotyaevka, the water level is at 188 cm, the rise per day is +12 cm, the total rise since the beginning of the flood is 178 cm;

⁃ At the gauging station of the Sharonovka River - the village of Ganyushkino, the water level is at 193 cm, the rise per day is +5 cm, the total rise since the beginning of the flood is 96 cm.

As of April 26, discharges from the Volzhsky hydroelectric power station amounted to 25.6 thousand cubic meters per second.

By 12 noon, the emergency response headquarters of the Atyrau region stated that the water level in Kigach and Sharonovka had begun to decline, but noted that a further increase was expected.
