Israeli air force strikes southern Lebanon
The Israeli Air Force carried out a series of airstrikes on southern regions of Lebanon, including targets near the city of Nabatieh. The strikes occurred amid ongoing tensions along the border and caused damage to infrastructure and residential buildings. Local sources report structural damage and possible civilian casualties.
The attacks took place at night and were accompanied by powerful explosions heard in towns several kilometers away from the impact zones. According to preliminary reports, the raids targeted facilities allegedly used by armed groups, as claimed by Israeli authorities. However, local officials stated that civilian structures, including homes and agricultural buildings, were hit.
Lebanese emergency services were deployed to the Nabatieh area to respond to the aftermath. Several people were injured, including women and children. Power outages and damage to transportation infrastructure have also been reported. Local officials voiced concern over the continuation of airstrikes and called on the international community to intervene to prevent further escalation.
Nabatieh and surrounding areas have been repeatedly targeted in recent weeks. The escalation on Lebanon’s southern border continues amid worsening conditions in the Gaza Strip and rising regional tensions. UN representatives and humanitarian organizations are calling for an immediate end to the strikes and for protection of the civilian population.
Lebanese authorities condemned the latest attacks and declared them a violation of national sovereignty and international law. Their statement emphasized that the ongoing strikes pose a threat to stability across the region. The situation in southern Lebanon is expected to be discussed on international platforms in the coming days.
