More than 176 billion tenge were spent in Kazakhstan on the purchase of foreign currency
According to the National Bank, in March exchange offices sold foreign currency for 176.3 billion tenge, while in February – 175.5 billion tenge.
Traditionally, the greatest demand was for dollars. Last month, the population spent 158.5 billion tenge on their purchase. American currency was actively bought in Almaty - 55.3 billion tenge, Shymkent - 34.6 billion tenge, as well as in Mangistau - 10.1 billion tenge, Atyrau - 9.3 billion tenge, and Kostanay regions - 7.6 billion tenge.
Meanwhile, exchangers sold euros in the amount of 19.04 billion tenge. This currency was mainly bought in Almaty - 7.5 billion tenge, Astana - 3.6 billion tenge, and Shymkent - 2.6 billion tenge.
The demand for Russian currency has changed noticeably. If in February 3.4 billion tenge were spent on its purchase, then in March this figure entered the negative zone (-1.7 billion tenge). This suggests that the population has begun to get rid of rubles.
As for yuan, in March exchange offices sold them for 91.9 million tenge. While a month earlier this volume was 233.8 million tenge.
