Attempted coup prevented in Kyrgyzstan
The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Kyrgyzstan thwarted a plot aimed at destabilizing the situation through mass riots and interethnic conflicts, followed by a seizure of power.
The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Kyrgyzstan reported that an attempt to organize mass riots with the aim of destabilizing the socio-political situation and carrying out a coup d’état had been prevented.
Since the beginning of 2025, intelligence services had been monitoring a group of individuals planning these actions under the guidance of ideological leaders. One of the alleged organizers is currently outside the country, presumably in the United Arab Emirates.
The perpetrators planned to film and distribute a fake video on social media featuring a supposedly beaten and half-naked Kyrgyz girl, claiming she was assaulted by foreign citizens. The goal of this video was to incite interethnic conflict and provoke mass protests.
After the video was circulated, specially trained combat groups equipped with firearms were to be deployed to instigate fights and riots in areas where foreigners live and work. Additional provocations were planned against Kyrgyz citizens and law enforcement officers to discredit the authorities and create conditions for large-scale protests financed by the so-called opposition.
As a result of the special operation, members of the group operating within Kyrgyzstan were detained. Work is underway to identify and detain other individuals involved, including organizers located abroad.
