Biker Hits Two Children in Turkey, One Dead
A tragedy occurred in a Turkish city: a motorcyclist at high speed hit two small children who were running across the road to their mother. One child died at the scene, the other is in critical condition in intensive care.
According to preliminary data, the incident happened during the day on one of the city streets. The children, aged 5 and 7, ran onto the roadway heading toward their mother, who was on the opposite side of the road. At that moment, a motorcyclist was riding down the street and could not brake in time, hitting both children at high speed. The impact threw the children several meters.
Witnesses report that the mother saw the incident and suffered severe emotional shock. Ambulance and police arrived at the scene. One child died before the medics arrived, the other was taken to hospital and placed in intensive care. Doctors describe his condition as extremely serious.
Local authorities have launched an investigation. According to the police, the motorcyclist has been detained, and tests are being conducted for the presence of alcohol and drugs in his blood. The investigation is also determining whether the driver adhered to the speed limit and whether he had prior traffic violations.
The tragedy has caused a wide public outcry in Turkish social media. Users are calling for stricter enforcement of speed limits and increased safety measures in residential areas where children are often present. In some regions of the country, the installation of additional pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, and violation detection cameras is being discussed.
