The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip lasted only four days. On Thursday night, Israeli aircraft carried out a series of airstrikes on the city of Rafah and nearby areas. According to Palestinian sources, the attacks targeted residential neighborhoods and infrastructure facilities. There are no confirmed reports on casualties yet, but eyewitnesses described large-scale destruction and fires.

The Israeli side stated that the strikes were “in response to a Hamas attack on Israeli soldiers.” The IDF officially confirmed the beginning of “a series of targeted operations” against Hamas sites, accusing the group of “a clear violation of the ceasefire.”

Earlier, Israel’s Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resume military operations in Gaza. His statement came shortly after the Defense Minister also supported renewed action, saying “no concessions can be made.” These calls effectively marked the end of the fragile truce.

Hamas representatives condemned Israel’s actions, calling them a betrayal of the peace agreements and a continuation of aggression. According to them, the occupation forces violated all previously reached arrangements, worsening the already dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.

International mediators — Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey — expressed deep concern over the developments. According to diplomatic sources, they urged both sides to adhere to the commitments reached under the peace agreement.

However, the renewed airstrikes and statements from Israeli ministers show that “peace in Palestine” was short-lived. The Zionist regime once again demonstrated its unwillingness to honor agreements, choosing escalation and violence over dialogue and peace.
