A woman in Greece has initiated divorce proceedings based on a prediction provided by artificial intelligence. According to her, ChatGPT analyzed an image of coffee grounds from her cup and warned of a possible affair involving her husband. The prediction claimed that the husband was allegedly in a romantic relationship with a younger woman whose name starts with the letter “E,” and it also warned of a potential family breakdown.

The woman considered the forecast sufficient grounds to end the marriage. She informed her children and asked her husband to leave the house. According to ANT1 TV channel, the man denied all accusations, stating there was no evidence of infidelity. He claimed his wife had become fascinated with fortune-telling using AI and suddenly accused him based on the result. He also noted that she had asked him to photograph coffee cups and send the images to ChatGPT for analysis.

The man’s lawyer, Phoebus Smroungris, called the case unprecedented. He emphasized that decisions based on AI predictions cannot be treated as evidence in legal proceedings. He added that his client is considering filing for custody to protect the children from decisions driven by subjective interpretations.

The case has sparked public debate about the influence of new technologies on personal relationships. Legal experts are discussing the implications of AI-based conclusions in family disputes and the need for critical thinking when using such tools.
