The Gaza Strip has experienced a deterioration in weather conditions caused by a strong cyclone. Heavy rainfall led to flooding in areas where temporary accommodation camps are located. Water flows affected infrastructure and living conditions. Part of the tents was damaged or destroyed, forcing families to leave flooded areas. Local structures report difficulties with drainage, which intensifies the impact of the bad weather and reduces the ability to carry out operational work to restore conditions in the affected territories.

Administrative representatives note that temporary structures are not designed for heavy rainfall and low temperatures. The worsening weather disrupted the work of facilities related to the distribution of humanitarian aid and the provision of basic resources to the population. Tent shelters installed under limited conditions proved unstable under prolonged exposure to moisture and wind. This creates additional risks for people living in the camps, especially in areas where there is no possibility of reinforcing temporary structures.

A Hamas representative stated that the situation requires an immediate increase in international assistance. He noted that fuel restrictions complicate the work of services dealing with the consequences of the bad weather. The lack of fuel affects the operation of pumping equipment, transportation, and infrastructure necessary to support the population during the emergency, including the functioning of evacuation points and humanitarian distribution centers.

There are reported difficulties in maintaining the operation of evacuation, heating, and medical services. Low temperatures and high humidity create additional challenges for families living in tents. Gaza authorities emphasize that placing the population in such shelters is a forced measure that does not provide sufficient protection from rain and wind. The situation is complicated by the limited ability to move people to safe areas and the shortage of suitable facilities for temporary accommodation, reducing the effectiveness of the response.

As the cyclone develops, new cases of flooding and restricted access to certain areas are being recorded. Transport routes have been disrupted, hindering the delivery of humanitarian aid. Civil defense representatives highlight the need for urgent deployment of more resilient shelters and for reinforcement work in camp areas. The worsening weather increases the need for emergency support and creates additional health risks for people living in conditions of high humidity and low temperatures.

The humanitarian burden in the sector requires additional resources to provide the population with food, clothing, blankets, and heating supplies. Organizations operating in the region report that the number of affected individuals may increase depending on further weather developments. Damage assessment is ongoing, and local structures state that a set of measures is needed, including temporary relocation of families, infrastructure repairs, and strengthening of facilities used for accommodation.
