Libya’s Government of National Accord Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh categorically rejected the possibility of normalizing relations with Israel. In a statement, he emphasized that such a position is fundamental for the Libyan people and cannot be reconsidered. He also denied claims circulated in international media about Libya’s alleged agreement to accept Palestinian refugees from Gaza, calling such reports false. According to the head of government, even the U.S. embassy in Tripoli officially refuted this information.

Dbeibeh described the situation in the Gaza Strip as a humanitarian catastrophe. He noted that the Palestinian people are subjected to mass killings, deprived of food, medical aid, and basic rights. The Prime Minister called on the international community for urgent intervention and support, stating that Palestinians must be able to live on their land in peace and security.

In his address, the Libyan Prime Minister also stressed the importance of internal consolidation of efforts to restore national institutions. He described the elimination of armed groups as a strategic direction of domestic policy, calling it a national project for the revival of the state. According to him, strengthening the role of legitimate institutions of power is necessary to overcome the consequences of years of conflict and establish order in the country.

The Prime Minister’s statement came against the backdrop of ongoing tensions in the Arab world due to Israel’s actions in Gaza. A number of Islamic leaders had earlier criticized states maintaining diplomatic and economic ties with Tel Aviv. Dbeibeh’s statement deepens the division within Arab diplomacy over the Palestinian issue and underscores Libya’s refusal to participate in the normalization process with Israel.
