Pakistan and China strengthen coordination amid escalating tensions with India
Pakistan and China confirmed their commitment to regional peace amid rising tensions between Pakistan and India after the Jammu and Kashmir attack. Consultations with other countries are underway.
Amid a new wave of tension between Islamabad and New Delhi following the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan and China on Sunday reaffirmed their determination to strengthen regional peace and stability. The joint statements were made after a telephone conversation between Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, and Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.
Both diplomats stressed the need to strengthen mutual respect and opposed any unilateral actions and hegemonic policies in the region. Pakistan's Foreign Minister informed Beijing about the consequences of the tragic events in India's illegally occupied (according to Pakistan) Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 tourists were killed in the attack.
In addition to China, Islamabad turned to its strategic partners — Saudi Arabia, Iran and Egypt - to enlist their support and convey its position in the context of the worsening crisis. Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Islamabad and Beijing have agreed to maintain close coordination at all levels to advance common goals of peace, security and sustainable development.
Pakistan has once again rejected any attempts by India to impose unilateral solutions, and has strongly condemned baseless propaganda against it. Ishaq Dar expressed gratitude to China for its continued support and confirmed that the friendship between Pakistan and China remains unbreakable, and the strategic partnership will only deepen.
In parallel, Pakistan is actively consulting with other countries. Ishaq Dar had a telephone conversation with British Foreign Minister David Lammy on Sunday. Dar highlighted India's illegal actions, including the suspension of the Indus River Treaty, which is a gross violation of international obligations. He reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to protecting its national interests and peace in the region.
The British Foreign Secretary stressed the importance of de-escalation and dialogue. In response, Pakistan expressed its willingness to participate in any independent and transparent investigation to establish the facts.
Meanwhile, in London, the building of the High Commission of Pakistan was vandalized after mass protests by Indian demonstrators. The window panes were damaged, the facade of the building and the memorial plaque were damaged. The police have increased security, and an investigation has been launched.
The aggravation of the situation was also evident at sea. Security sources reported that the Pakistani Navy successfully responded to the appearance of the Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikrant in the northern Arabian Sea. After several days of patrolling, the Indian ship returned to the port of Karwar. The parties have not yet given official comments on the incident.
Against the background of these events, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif, met with the leader of the PML-N, Nawaz Sharif. The current situation and future strategy were discussed. Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan will respond with full force to any aggression from India and stressed that the incident in Pahalgam looks like a pre-planned provocation similar to the false flag operations previously conducted by New Delhi.
Nawaz Sharif, for his part, reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to peace in South Asia and its categorical condemnation of all forms of terrorism.
Against the background of these statements, many Middle Eastern and international analysts are increasingly warning that India's dominant political forces are committed to further expanding their influence, viewing regional conflicts not as a threat, but as a tool to strengthen their own hegemony.
