Peskov: Putin to Present Concept of a Polycentric World at Valdai
Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov announced that Vladimir Putin’s upcoming Valdai speech will focus on the concept of a polycentric world. He also commented on frozen Russian assets, the Zaporizhzhia NPP, and Russia’s position on talks with Kyiv.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the key theme of Vladimir Putin’s upcoming address at the Valdai International Discussion Club will be the concept of a polycentric world. According to him, the president’s speech is not adjusted to current political events and does not shift with changing circumstances.
Peskov devoted particular attention to the European Commission’s initiative to transfer €2 billion to Ukraine for drones using frozen Russian assets. The Kremlin representative called such plans “theft,” emphasizing that such actions undermine trust in the principle of property inviolability and create a dangerous precedent for the global economy. He added that individuals and states involved in the appropriation of assets must understand their responsibility and the possibility of legal prosecution.
He also commented on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s claims that Russia is allegedly damaging the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Peskov dismissed such assertions as “nonsense,” stressing that the plant is under Russian control and that Moscow is taking all measures to ensure its reliable security. He further noted that Russia maintains constant contact with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Peskov underlined that Russia remains a supporter of peace but continues to strengthen its armed forces. At the same time, he noted that if necessary, Russian troops are forced to take “measures to restore order,” particularly in response to European actions that interfere with navigation in the Baltic Sea.
Speaking on contacts with Ukraine, the press secretary said that preparing high-level negotiations is impossible since Kyiv itself put the dialogue on hold. At the same time, Moscow closely follows statements from U.S. President Donald Trump, who actively comments on the situation in Ukraine and international affairs.
Thus, Peskov’s remarks outlined the Kremlin’s main positions: protection of national assets, strengthening of military security, readiness for dialogue under certain conditions, and promotion of the polycentric world concept, which will be the central theme of Putin’s Valdai address.
