New incidents of violence were recorded in Morocco during mass protests sparked by young people’s discontent with corruption, lack of investment in healthcare, and education. According to official data, two people were killed in clashes with security forces, while 263 law enforcement officers and 23 civilians sustained various injuries.

The situation escalated after a group of protesters set fire to a vehicle and part of the Royal Gendarmerie building. In response, security forces used tear gas, but the clashes continued, forcing the police to use firearms. Authorities stressed that shooting was carried out solely in self-defense to repel the attack.

Mass demonstrations in Morocco began back in September, when young people took to the streets demanding reforms in healthcare and education, as well as a fight against corruption. These protests quickly turned into riots, accompanied by attacks on government representatives and public buildings.

Moroccan authorities emphasize the need to restore order, while human rights organizations express concern over the use of firearms against civilians. Observers believe that further escalation may provoke growing discontent and trigger new protests across the country.
