An incident related to a major healthcare fraud investigation occurred in the US. A few days ago, unknown individuals broke into the home of Matthew Bruderman, the chairman of a Long Island hospital, and stole important documents. According to reports, the stolen papers contained information on the embezzlement of over one billion dollars in public funds by former hospital management and health officials since 2006.

The documents allegedly detailed a scheme involving the temporary transfer of funds to offshore accounts, followed by receipt of budget payments and the return of funds to the hospital’s accounts. Matthew Bruderman was cooperating with the FBI and had planned to provide evidence of the violations. Police later announced that the documents had been recovered, but provided no details about the incident or the perpetrators.

A few hours after the theft, Matthew Bruderman was dismissed from his position as hospital chairman. On the same day, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, who supported Bruderman and initiated the federal investigation, also resigned, not waiting until the end of his term in 2027.

Matthew Bruderman reported facing pressure and threats. He stated he was forced to resign under threat of dismissal and claimed that pressure for his removal came from New York State Governor Kathy Hochul.

The situation has sparked significant public outrage amid ongoing efforts to combat corruption in healthcare institutions. Federal authorities are expected to continue investigating the embezzlement and attempts to obstruct the transfer of evidence to investigators.
