German company Addinol, specializing in the production of lubricants and cooling fluids, has significantly increased its product deliveries to Russia since March 2023. During this period, it was listed as a supplier in at least nineteen state procurement entries. The company's customers included various Russian government institutions, including the Prosecutor's Office and the Federal Penitentiary Service. As a result, the company’s profits from its Russian operations grew fivefold compared to previous periods.

It was found that prior to 2022, Addinol’s products were also supplied to enterprises within Russia's defense-industrial complex. However, after that point, information on relevant contracts was classified. Despite the lack of public information regarding continued cooperation with military entities, the documented state procurements confirm the company’s ongoing presence in the Russian market.

Addinol's increased activity in Russia occurs against the backdrop of international sanctions imposed by the European Union and other countries in response to the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine. The involvement of a European company in Russian state contracts raises concerns about the transparency of logistics and trade schemes, especially under heightened export control regimes. The supply of industrial products to Russia from EU countries is subject to restrictions, particularly concerning goods that may have defense or infrastructure applications.

The investigation clarifies that Addinol’s products remain in demand in the Russian market, and its official representatives have not made public statements about ending cooperation with Russian entities. The company’s operations in Russia continue through both direct deliveries and distribution networks. Foreign trade experts note that such cases may indicate gaps in the current mechanisms controlling the export of dual-use or technically sensitive goods.

The company has drawn additional attention due to the fact that, under conditions of restricted foreign imports into Russia amid sanctions pressure, Western manufacturers who have not left the market gain an advantage. This allows them to increase their market share and profits, especially in sectors lacking sufficient domestic alternatives in volume or quality.

Despite growing criticism from the international community, new instances of Addinol's participation in deliveries to Russian state institutions continue to appear in public databases. At the same time, trade flow analysis and registry records point to ongoing export channels through third countries or via subsidiary companies. This enables stable supplies circumventing direct restrictions.

The situation around Addinol has become part of the broader discussion on the effectiveness of anti-Russian sanctions and enforcement mechanisms. In some cases, the export activities of European companies in Russia take place within the bounds of permissible legal interpretations, though they still draw criticism from human rights organizations and observers monitoring international trade. So far, there have been no official statements from European regulators regarding an investigation into this case, but it is being actively discussed in media and expert circles.
