Durov Writes Will, Blocks Inheritance Access for 30 Years
Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced he wrote a will to protect his children and company. His children will be denied access to their inheritance for 30 years — to learn to live without financial dependence.
Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram messenger, revealed that he has written a will due to increasing risks associated with his activities. He explained that defending freedom of speech and digital privacy attracts opposition from powerful states, making it necessary to secure the future of both his family and company in advance.
“I want to protect my children, and also Telegram, the company I founded. I want Telegram to remain forever true to the values I stand for,” he said.
According to the will, Durov’s six children, born to three different women, will not be able to access their inheritance for the next 30 years. Durov emphasized that he wants them to “live like normal people,” build trust among themselves, and create their lives without relying on inherited wealth.
He stressed that his children should be able “to create, not to depend on a bank account,” and expressed confidence that this approach will help them gain independence and inner freedom.
Durov also shared his views on international politics, revealing that he ignored a personal message from French President Emmanuel Macron following the scandal surrounding the elections in Romania. He further criticized the French leader’s policies, albeit without providing specific details.
These statements underscore Durov’s commitment to his principles and his desire to secure both his family and Telegram’s long-term independence.
