Floods in Vietnam: Dozens Dead and Thousands of Homes Underwater

The disaster has caused severe damage to infrastructure and agriculture. More than 16,500 homes have been submerged, roads and bridges destroyed, and thousands of hectares of rice fields and fruit orchards damaged. Reports indicate that more than 42,000 farm animals and poultry have died. The cities of Hue and Hoi An have been hit the hardest, with water levels remaining high as rescue services continue to evacuate residents.

The Vietnamese government has declared a state of emergency and sent additional civil defense units and medical teams to the affected areas. A total of 450 billion dong, or about 18 million US dollars, has been allocated for disaster relief and public support. The funds will be used to restore housing, repair infrastructure, and compensate farmers.

Meteorologists forecast that heavy rains will persist at least until Tuesday. Authorities have warned of the risk of renewed landslides and flooding in mountainous areas. Rescue services urge residents to stay in shelters and follow official updates.
