German Chancellor Opposes Discussing Ukraine Without Its Participation
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that it is unacceptable to discuss or decide on issues of Ukrainian territories between the US and Russia without the participation of Ukraine and Europe.
The German Chancellor emphasized that any negotiations affecting territorial matters must be conducted with the mandatory participation of Kyiv and European partners. According to him, a situation in which the fate of Ukrainian territories is determined without the direct involvement of the country and its allies is unacceptable.
Scholz expressed confidence that the US government shares this position. He noted that resolving issues related to Ukraine’s territorial integrity is possible only in a format that includes the participation of Ukraine itself, as well as European Union countries.
The Chancellor stated that Germany will continue to support Ukraine in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stressed that any agreements reached without Kyiv’s consent will be considered a violation of international law and will not gain legitimacy in the eyes of the European community.
Berlin also notes that such issues should be resolved within the framework of international norms and taking into account the positions of all parties involved in the conflict. Scholz emphasized that Germany advocates diplomatic solutions that take into account Ukraine’s interests and ensure long-term security in the region.
