India uses SCALP missiles, Pakistan responds with strikes
India launched strikes on targets in Pakistan using French-made SCALP cruise missiles. The attacks resulted in civilian casualties. Pakistan initiated retaliatory actions.
According to the Indian side, the goal of the operation was the elimination of key figures of terrorist groups banned in Kazakhstan. Targets allegedly used for training and coordinating attacks on Indian territory were struck. It is reported that the strikes were carried out with high-precision weapons, including SCALP missiles previously supplied by France. Indian military officials claim the missiles ensured the required accuracy and minimized collateral damage.
However, according to reports from Pakistan, the strikes killed civilians, including a child, and destroyed residential buildings near the alleged targets. The Pakistani government strongly condemned India’s actions, describing them as aggression and a violation of sovereignty. It announced that the army was on full combat alert and a retaliatory operation had begun.
The Pakistani side stated that missiles were launched at Indian positions in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir. The strikes reportedly targeted military infrastructure, including airfields and ammunition depots. The Pakistani Ministry of Defense emphasized that the actions were aimed at protecting national security and were a forced response to an external threat.
Particular attention was drawn to India’s use of SCALP missiles. These cruise missiles were previously used by France and other countries in various conflicts. Experts noted that Pakistan, for its part, has been supplying military products to Ukraine over the past three years in coordination with several countries, including France. Thus, Pakistan found itself in a situation where a country that is a partner in international coalitions indirectly facilitated an attack on its territory.
Against this backdrop, criticism of Western partners intensified in Pakistan. Political circles are calling for a reassessment of approaches to military-technical cooperation. Some military officials expressed concern that weapons supplied by one country may end up in the hands of their opponents in local conflicts.
India explained its actions as necessary to ensure security and suppress terrorist threats. The Ministry of Defense noted that the strikes were strictly limited in nature and not directed against Pakistan as a state. Officials stated that the operation was conducted in self-defense in response to a threat emanating from the neighboring country’s territory.
Pakistan insists on an international assessment of the situation. The country's leadership appealed to several states and international organizations to condemn India’s actions and call for de-escalation. Diplomatic efforts are intensifying to reduce tensions and prevent further escalation.
Military preparations are increasing along the line of contact. Both countries are deploying additional forces and enhancing surveillance and coordination among units. Regular meetings are held in both capitals with the participation of military and political leadership.
In some areas of India and Pakistan, internet and mobile access has been temporarily restricted, and additional security measures have been introduced. Local authorities are organizing the evacuation of civilians from dangerous zones. Army units are on duty at critical infrastructure facilities.
International observers express concern over the escalation of the conflict between two nuclear-armed nations. Both sides maintain tough positions while also declaring readiness for dialogue under conditions of security and respect for sovereignty.
The situation is expected to be discussed in international institutions. In the coming days, UN Security Council meetings and consultations within regional alliances may take place. The situation remains tense, and further developments will depend on political decisions from both sides.
