An artillery strike by the Israeli armed forces has once again been recorded in the Gaza Strip. This time, the target was Al-Durrah Children’s Hospital, located in one of Gaza City's densely populated areas. The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip confirmed that shells hit the medical facility, which specializes in providing care for children.

According to official reports, the shelling damaged solar panels installed on the hospital roof as well as the building of the intensive care unit. The strike hit the central part of the complex, where patients with critical conditions are usually treated. Medical staff quickly evacuated those at risk. As of publication, no injuries or fatalities have been reported.

Hospital administrators stated that the damaged infrastructure supplied electricity to the facility, including the units operating life-support machines. Currently, staff are assessing the extent of the damage and working to restore equipment functionality. The Ministry of Health noted that loss of power during such high-demand conditions could endanger patients’ lives.

Gaza authorities condemned the Israeli army’s actions, calling them a violation of international humanitarian law, which mandates the protection of medical facilities during armed conflicts. Health officials emphasized that children’s hospitals must never be military targets and should always be under special protection regardless of circumstances.

The Israeli side has yet to comment on the incident. The military command has not released any official statement about the hospital shelling or the reasons it was targeted. In previous similar cases, Israeli forces have claimed strikes may have been aimed at alleged militant positions located near civilian infrastructure.

International organizations, including child protection and humanitarian aid groups, have already voiced concern over the escalating situation in Gaza. Attacks on medical facilities during ongoing hostilities are viewed as an especially alarming development. Human rights advocates stress that regardless of military objectives, the protection of hospitals and civilians must remain an absolute priority.

Since the start of the current phase of conflict, there have been numerous instances of schools, hospitals, and other civilian infrastructure being damaged in Gaza. Strikes on facilities housing children and patients have triggered particularly strong reactions from the international community. The worsening humanitarian situation in the region remains one of the most urgent issues requiring immediate response from both international institutions and the parties involved in the conflict.

Amid these developments, calls for an immediate ceasefire and unimpeded access for humanitarian organizations to affected areas are growing stronger. The protection of medical personnel and civilians—especially children—remains at the forefront of international concern, with demands for all parties to comply with international law.
