Kazakhstan Opens Logistics Hub in Poti Port on the Black Sea
A Kazakh logistics terminal has opened in Georgia's Poti port, providing the country with direct access to the Black Sea and becoming part of the Trans-Caspian route.

A logistics hub owned by Kazakhstan has opened in the port of Poti, located on the territory of Georgia. The new multimodal terminal is fully controlled by the Kazakh side and represents the country's first access point to the Black Sea under its own transport control. The project was implemented through PTC Holding and is part of a strategy to expand trade routes and strengthen economic independence. The hub is integrated into the Middle Corridor structure, which connects Central Asia with Europe while bypassing traditional routes through Russia.
The opening of the terminal enables Kazakhstan to accelerate export flows and ensure stable access to European consumers. Thanks to the launch of this facility, Kazakh goods can now follow the Trans-Caspian route through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, eventually reaching the Black Sea. This reduces dependency on geopolitically unstable directions and shortens delivery times. The new route increases Kazakhstan’s flexibility in foreign trade and opens up opportunities to expand commerce with EU and Black Sea region countries.
The Poti terminal is the result of years of work on building logistics infrastructure beyond the country's borders. Kazakhstan has gained direct access to a seaport despite not having its own coastline along the Black Sea. The project includes plans for further development of the complex in response to growing transit volumes, including container and multimodal transport. The hub's infrastructure is designed to handle a wide range of cargo, including raw materials, agricultural products, and industrial goods.
The launch of the logistics hub in Poti is viewed as a strategic achievement within the national program for export route diversification. Kazakhstan is strengthening its position in international markets by gaining the ability to independently manage the movement of goods to final destinations in Europe. This also reduces risks associated with potential restrictions on other routes and contributes to the creation of stable trade relations. The new center will become a key logistics point in the region and an important element of transcontinental freight transportation.
The logistics terminal project received support from both governmental and private entities. Its development will contribute to economic growth, reinforce Kazakhstan’s standing in the global trade system, and promote deeper integration within the Eurasian space. The opening of the hub in Poti marks a step toward a more balanced logistics policy and a new level of autonomy in the global transport architecture.
