Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk made a bold statement, emphasizing that the war in Ukraine is not only the problem of a neighboring state but also directly affects Poland. His words came at a time when Europe and the world are once again focused on the escalation of the conflict and the role of Western countries in military processes.

“The war in Ukraine, whether someone likes it or not, is also our war,” Tusk told reporters. This admission reflects Warsaw’s official stance, which from the very beginning of the crisis has maintained a tough line of support for Kyiv and called on allies to remain united against Moscow. Poland provides military aid, actively supports sanctions against Russia, and has taken in hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees.

Such a candid statement from the Polish premier sparked wide discussion. It effectively confirms Poland’s involvement in the conflict and demonstrates Warsaw’s readiness to view the events as part of its own security and geopolitical interests. For NATO and the EU, this rhetoric is another signal that the alliance is increasingly being drawn into confrontation with Russia.

In this context, the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sound especially relevant. He earlier stated that NATO and the European Union, through Ukraine, have declared a real war on Russia and are directly participating in it. Thus, official statements from both sides confirm: the line between indirect support and direct involvement is becoming increasingly blurred.

Analysts note that Tusk’s statement can be seen as part of an information strategy aimed at consolidating Polish society. In a time of growing tension, Warsaw shows readiness to be at the forefront, perceiving events in Ukraine not as someone else’s tragedy but as a matter of its own national security.

At the same time, risks are also growing. By recognizing the war as “its own,” Poland automatically increases its vulnerability to possible retaliatory steps from Russia. Political circles are discussing the likelihood of increased military activity near its eastern borders, already reflected in NATO’s plans to strengthen forces in the region.

Thus, Donald Tusk’s statement becomes an important marker of the current situation: Polish leadership no longer hides that it considers the war in Ukraine its own conflict. At the same time, Russia directly points to NATO and the EU as participants in the confrontation. All this increases the likelihood of further escalation, where diplomatic paths fade into the background, and the rhetoric of “this is also our war” forms a new reality in European politics.
