Syrian President al-Joulani, during his visit to the United States, announced the start of preparations for a new security agreement between Damascus and the Zionist regime. According to the head of state, the document is designed to stabilize the situation in southern Syria and create conditions for long-term national recovery after years of conflict.

The statement came during al-Joulani’s meeting in Washington with representatives of Syrian-American organizations and the Syrian diaspora. The meeting was attended by Syria’s Foreign Minister al-Sheibani and U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Middle East affairs, Barrack.

According to the Syrian leader, the agreement will include security coordination mechanisms, measures to prevent incidents along the demarcation line, and conditions for reopening humanitarian corridors. He noted that the negotiation process is being mediated by the United States and is seen as part of a new regional stability framework emerging from Washington’s diplomatic initiatives.

Al-Joulani emphasized Syria’s commitment to independence and territorial integrity while expressing readiness to cooperate with international partners on the basis of mutual respect. He described the current stage as “an opportunity to redefine regional security” and move from military confrontation to diplomatic engagement.

The president also addressed sanctions imposed on Syria by the previous U.S. administration. He said the review and possible lifting of these restrictions are nearing completion, with final decisions expected after his upcoming meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Diplomatic sources in Washington note that this initiative could become one of the first steps toward the gradual normalization of relations between Syria and several Western countries. At the same time, Syrian government officials stress that any agreements will be implemented in line with national interests and full respect for Syria’s sovereignty.

The upcoming meeting between al-Joulani and Donald Trump is viewed as a pivotal moment in shaping a new phase of Syrian-American relations. The two leaders plan to discuss security issues, humanitarian cooperation, and the involvement of international organizations in rebuilding Syria’s infrastructure.

Final details of the security agreement are expected to be presented early next year, after which both sides will begin drafting a roadmap for its implementation.
