Tajikistan Aims to Become China’s Digital Hub
Emomali Rahmon highlighted Tajikistan’s AI and digital service potential for China. Xi Jinping pledged support for the country’s development and independence.
During the "Central Asia – China" forum in Astana, Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon emphasized his country’s potential in artificial intelligence and digital technologies. He stated that Tajikistan is ready to offer China the infrastructure for hosting data centers and providing digital services.
According to Rahmon, the country possesses the necessary resources and favorable conditions to build a modern tech base, including stable energy supply, strategic geographic location, and strong interest in advancing its digital economy. He noted that cooperation with Chinese companies could boost Tajikistan’s IT sector, create new jobs, and expand China’s economic footprint in Central Asia.
In response, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his full support for Tajikistan, affirming China’s commitment to strengthening bilateral partnership. He emphasized the importance of sustainable development and noted that China will continue supporting Tajikistan’s sovereignty and independence.
This collaboration marks a new chapter in bilateral relations. Tajikistan seeks to transition from being merely a transit country to a full-fledged digital partner by offering China technological and logistical solutions amid global digitalization trends.
The forum also addressed potential cross-border data exchange, joint talent development, and pilot projects in AI and big data.
