A United States delegation led by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Alison Hooker made a working visit to Armenia and Azerbaijan where it held a series of meetings dedicated to the development of regional transport routes. The visit continued consultations on projects aimed at improving connectivity across the South Caucasus and creating new opportunities for international transit. During the meetings various forms of cooperation between the regional states and the United States were discussed including initiatives that could be implemented under long term transport development programs.

One of the central topics was the creation of sustainable routes connecting territories within the region. The United States expressed interest in infrastructure capable of expanding trade and logistics opportunities. Particular attention was given to the development of routes that could improve transport access and strengthen economic ties. The consultations also covered coordination mechanisms and possible forms of technical and financial support.

During the visit to Azerbaijan Alison Hooker met with Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The Azerbaijani side emphasized the importance of projects aimed at ensuring stable connection between the main part of the country and Nakhchivan. It was noted that the implementation of such initiatives holds strategic value for Azerbaijan and could significantly improve regional accessibility. The parties discussed the current state of work and potential steps to accelerate certain stages. They also reviewed prospects for expanding cooperation on new routes and modernizing existing infrastructure.

The United States delegation stressed the need to ensure the stability and functionality of transport corridors which may play a key role in the regional economy. Discussions included the security of transport lines and measures required to ensure uninterrupted operation. Representatives highlighted that the United States views South Caucasus transport projects as part of a broader vision for sustainable economic development and regional cooperation.

In Armenia meetings focused on possible ways to integrate the country into new logistics routes. Technical options for utilizing existing infrastructure and opportunities for modernization were discussed. The Armenian side examined participation in programs aimed at improving transport access and broadening external trade options. It was noted that such projects could contribute to economic resilience and enhance cooperation with neighboring states.

The visit drew attention because the projects under discussion may influence the transport architecture of the region and shape future international links. The creation of new corridors is seen as part of a long term strategy aimed at increasing the transit potential of the South Caucasus. Consultations are ongoing and further meetings are expected to clarify details and determine possible implementation stages.
