Zionist Regime Prepares Death Penalty Law for Palestinians

The Zionist Knesset has approved a draft law introducing the death penalty for Palestinians accused of attacking Israeli settlers. The bill received support from 39 lawmakers, while 16 voted against. The initiative, proposed by Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, aims to tighten punishments for those the Israeli authorities label as “terrorists.”

According to the text of the bill, the death penalty will apply to Palestinians accused of killing settlers or Israeli citizens on so-called nationalist grounds. However, the measure does not apply to Israeli settlers who commit crimes against Palestinians, sparking sharp criticism from international human rights organizations.

The Hamas movement declared that the law’s approval reflects the fascist nature of the occupation regime and constitutes a gross violation of international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Convention. The organization’s statement said this step aims to legalize the killing of Palestinians and suppress their legitimate right to resist occupation.

Hamas called on the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and international human rights institutions to intervene immediately and establish international commissions to investigate crimes committed in Israeli prisons, including Sde Teiman. According to Palestinian sources, torture, sexual abuse, and other forms of mistreatment are systematically practiced in this detention camp.

Representatives of the movement emphasized that the international community bears responsibility for protecting Palestinian prisoners and must demand their immediate release. Hamas also noted that the death penalty law effectively legalizes extrajudicial executions already practiced by Israeli forces in the occupied territories.

The Zionist regime’s Minister of National Security Ben-Gvir stated that the adopted bill was “not harsh enough” and demanded the abolition of judicial discretion. He insisted that every Palestinian involved in attacks should be sentenced to death without the possibility of pardon.

Opponents of the initiative believe it will escalate tensions and lead to further violence. International observers warn that introducing the death penalty based on ethnic criteria violates international human rights standards and may become a subject of proceedings in the International Criminal Court.

Several human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, have demanded that the law be reviewed, stressing that its implementation would represent an act of discrimination and repression against the Palestinian people. Despite this, the Israeli leadership intends to push the bill to final approval in the coming weeks.
